Horacio Salgán
The orchestral years, 1950–1957
In 1950, Horacio Salgán entered the RCA Victor studios to begin his recording career. He was already an experienced pianist and orchestra leader, with a musical language shaped by tango, jazz and years of performing.
His first orchestra had left no studio recordings. The sessions that followed reveal the richness of his arrangements, alongside the voices of Ángel Díaz, Horacio Deval and a young Roberto Goyeneche. Our release brings together his known studio recordings from 1950 to 1957.
The restoration
It starts with the record
Every transfer begins with the search for a good original copy. We clean the record, choose the stylus and playback settings, and correct the pitch on the turntable before making the digital transfer.
Careful digital restoration and repeated listening follow, with the aim of preserving the character of the original sound. Discographic research accompanies the music, documenting the recordings and the people who made them.
