The present restoration project makes available as very high resolution downloads all 98 recordings of Osvaldo Fresedo and his orchestra made at the RCA Victor Studios in Buenos Aires between 1933 and 1939. The album contains all recordings with Roberto Ray and the first ones with Ricardo Ruíz.

The most important finding during our work on the collection was the retuning of the orchestra to A440 which happened in the beginning of 1934 and which coincides with the introduction of two instruments, namely the vibraphone and the harp. Check our release notes for more details

  1. Rated 5 out of 5

As a collector and DJ who owns an extensive collection of high-quality records I am quite a bit reluctant to spend more money on recordings I already have. But this compilation of masterfully crafted shellac transfers clearly comprises the best Fresedo c/ Ray I’ve ever heard. An absolute must for any serious tango lover. Kudos to Bénédicte and Jens-Ingo!

I echo many of the same sentiments as dj-tango.com. I have built up a sizable collection with many quality works but I have never, ever heard Fresedo this good! (and that’s saying something) Truly amazing work. A must-buy for all serious tango DJs.

  3. Rated 5 out of 5

I never enjoyed so much listening to Fresedo, the transfers are at the highest level and you can listen to tracks that were not available in the digital-market before. I would recomend this album to everyone (even if you have more of 80% of these songs from different sources) because the quality of sound of these transfers is outstanding! Thanks to Benedicte and Jens-Ingo!
