Historical recordings, present-day work
A Tango Time Travel file begins long before you download it. We locate records, compare copies, identify takes and study the recordings before preparing the transfer. Musical analysis, restoration and repeated listening then shape the edition you receive.
This work combines technical knowledge with musical judgement. We approach each recording individually, paying attention to tuning, tonal balance and the character of the performance. Our restoration method and release notes explain the choices, difficulties and discoveries behind our editions.
Restoring music for listening and dancing
Our experience as tango DJs informs the way we listen. Pulse, accents, timbre and the movement of the orchestra matter on a dance floor as well as at home. Making music danceable does not simply mean making it faster or louder. We seek a balance that preserves the character of each interpretation.
Respecting the recordings and the work
We do not claim ownership of the historical repertoire. Others can make independent transfers from original records, subject to the rights applicable to their sources.
TTT claims copyright in the original contributions expressed in its restorations and texts, where those contributions qualify for protection. This does not extend the duration of rights in the underlying works or revive expired neighbouring rights.
Our music files licence explains the permitted uses of the files you purchase, including private backups, technical copies and authorised DJ uses. It does not authorise redistribution of the files to other people. Applicable statutory exceptions remain unaffected.
Your purchases support future editions
Tango Time Travel is a project of Moving Art Studio ASBL, a non-profit association. Your purchases support the search for source records, equipment, restoration and documentation.
When shared files replace purchases, that support is lost. Please encourage other DJs and listeners to acquire their own copies so that this work can continue.
